Seeking Love - Episode 1 - Crunchyroll

Watched my first Asian drama. Definitely does not have the same appeal that anime has...

mxmlln's anime history on MyAnimeList.net: http://myanimelist.net/profile/mxmlln

Finally found a place to track my Anime. Luckily there is an API and I can eventually input all the data in the spreadsheet I have been using. Would be a lot cooler if someone else wrote an importer though...

Hermitude – Free listening, videos, concerts, stats, & pictures at Last.fm

Media_httpuserserveak_eiddi

The next great find: Hermitude.
They have at least 4 albums, so if you are discovering them for the first time, you have a lot of fun catching up to do.

Captain Tsubasa 14 | Captain Tsubasa episode 14

This show has not taught me a single thing about football. It is not very good either. Will stop here, 25% of the way through the show, and move on to the next football show.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

Must have first heard a few The Asteroids Galaxy Tour songs on some compilations two years ago, but did not take any notice. However, their new Out of Frequency album caught my attention.
It is not amazing, but simple and refreshing. Good enough, for sure. Definitely going to listen to their collection and see where this solid album came from.

Have not been this excited about an artist for about 6 months...

Thought I was going to play this for years, despite being made for a smartphone and not the computer. Turns out not to be free at all.

The Time Traveler's Wife: A Science Fiction Romance for Beginners

The Time Traveler's WifeThe Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I sort of swear off contemporary books (less than 20 years old) as a child. Many were autobiographical fiction and had little structure, assuming their own factual importance. I read this because I did not have any time to find a book for my 3 month trip to Europe and my mom had this lying around. However, since I was trying to find broaden my literary genres and venture into romance, this science fiction blend seemed like a proper compromise.
I loved it. There certainly are a few minor structural problems due to the time changes, but it altogether brilliant and original. Too bad more people do not appreciate it.

Friends with Benefits (2011) - IMDb

¿A five date rule? Girl, I have you beat for sure!
Anyway, really liked that movie. It was better than No Strings Attached...

Toriko (2): I love you: stay with me forever...

Toriko-manga-1-cover
It's hard to describe how perfect this show is for me. The easiest way for others to understand it is if the game Candy Land met Pokemon with some YuYu Hakusho for good measure.

It's also motivated me to create my Full Course Menu: a meal containing your choice of each of the following food categories:

  • Hors d'Œuvre:
  • Soup:
  • Fish Dish:
  • Meat Dish:
  • Main Dish:
  • Salad: Seaweed Salad
  • Dessert: Creme Brulee Cheesecake
  • Drink:

Still figuring out my dishes though, but above is my best guess so far for two categories.

Please reply with your own.

Spotify Fail 2: Terms of Service Acceptions

Reverting to the alpha Spotify version, I now encounter a new error where the Terms of Service Agreement pops up every two minutes. Toriko - Full Episodes and Clips streaming online - Hulu

Media_httpassetshului_vlmua

And now for something completely different: Toriko tracks down the most legendary and usually delicious creatures in the world. What a brilliant idea for a show!
He's a food tourist like me, except he loves danger...

Spotify with Apps (Beta) fail

The new Spotify Beta does not work very well for a lot of reasons. The main problem is that it takes 300% more memory to run the Beta, despite only having two apps running. Sadly, I don't have that much extra memory to throw away, so I switched back to the Alpha release.

It doesn't really matter since my 6 months of free unlimited streaming is almost up and I'll probably have to mostly abandon the service at that time.

Thanks for the compilations Spotify, that was the one thing you did well...

Goodreads | Mxmlln Montgomery (Sherman Oaks, CA)'s review of Battlefield Earth

Finally finished Hubbard's Battlefield Earth after exactly one month. Definitely recommend it and even might watch the horrible movie again...

Twilight, MoneyBall

Saw two movies Sunday and Monday, Twilight and Moneyball respectively.

Twilight, of course was magnificent, though the story was definitely different than usual. Critics gave it a 7.5, but I'd give it at least an 8 / 10.

Moneyball was a very interesting sports story with compelling conflicts, a strong 7. Nevertheless, the plot did seem to recycle the same conflict repeatedly and the characters simply responded by keeping to their faith. This was a strange experience, but didn't take too much away from the film. The worst part were the dumb scenes when Billy Beane was driving around in his car, presumably burning off steam and obviously a whole lot of gas.

A strong movie weekend...

FINISHED Tiger & Bunny, ROD: Read or Die The TV

Media_httpassetshului_hhyxo

Finished two more shows on Hulu, both good.
Hulu is the best legitimate source for Anime on the internet: They don't restrict access for Anime like they do for other shows. So instead of having the most recent 6 episodes available, every episode of every season for each series is available on demand. It really is a great time to start watching this genre.
However, free anime is getting harder and harder to find since I've watched nearly everything on Hulu. For each twenty new shows that are added, probably only one will be in a subgenre I like. Nevertheless, compared to Netflix's Anime selection, Hulu is far larger.
Check out what I've seen so far: http://www.hulu.com/profiles/mxmlln
